ArmInfo. The investment program of the South Caucasus Railway (SCR) for 2025 will amount to more than 2 billion drams (over $ 5 million - ed.). This was announced by SCR General Director Alexey Melnikov in an interview with an ArmInfo correspondent during the opening of the "Primordial Russia" photo exhibition in Yerevan.
According to Melnikov, the main focus will be on investing in railway infrastructure, including rolling stock. He also noted that part of the investment will be directed to the work carried out last year on emergency restoration in the Lori region. Specifically, it is planned to allocate more than 400 million drams to strengthen the infrastructure and roadbed in areas exposed to the Debet River. The General Director of SCR also touched upon the indicators of passenger and freight flows, noting that there is currently a significant decrease in both freight and passengers. According to him, this is due to the decline in tourist activity in Armenia this year. Nevertheless, Melnikov expressed hope that with the onset of the summer season, the number of tourists will increase, and they will use the services of the railway.
