ArmInfo. The Hotel Association of Armenia NGO has won the tender to become the authorized organization responsible for assigning star ratings to hotel facilities in the country. According to the Tourism Committee press service, an official agreement was signed between the Committee and the Association on August 7.
The classification process will be based on an agreement between the Hotel Association of Armenia and the Hotelstars Union, a European hotel classification system designed to unify star-rating criteria and ensure transparent quality standards across the hospitality sector.
Consequently, over the next 10 years, the classification of Armenian hotels will adhere to the international technical requirements and standards utilized by the Hotelstars Union. The agency noted that this transition will enhance service quality within Armenia's hospitality industry, foster the implementation of international benchmarks, and strengthen the country's competitiveness as a global tourism destination.
Recall, this development follows the Armenian government's approval of the hotel classification procedure, star-rating criteria, and the official qualification certificate template in late 2025. Hotelstars Union brings together countries that use uniform criteria for evaluating hotel properties, allowing tourists to compare the level of service and accommodations in different countries.
