PM Pashinyan: Azerbaijani fuel imports breaking monopolies and  lowering prices

ArmInfo.  Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has commented on concerns in Armenian society about the import of Azerbaijani gasoline,  being fueled by  circles that have monopolized the country's gasoline market for many  years.

In a Facebook live address, the Prime Minister recalled that  Azerbaijani fuel imports to Armenia began in mid-December 2025,  emphasizing his interest in learning what has happened in the  Armenian gasoline market since the imports began. "Premium gasoline  is primarily imported from Azerbaijan, and today the minimum price  for premium gasoline in Armenia has dropped by 15%, now standing at  430 drams per liter, down from the previous 510 drams. Two days ago,  diesel fuel was also imported from Azerbaijan to Armenia, and the  minimum price for this commodity fell by 2% during this period. The  price of regular gasoline has also decreased by approximately 8%  compared to December. In other words, if the minimum price for  regular gasoline was 500 drams on December 11, it is now 460 drams.  These are the results and benefits of the peace agenda and peace,"  Pashinyan said.

The Prime Minister added that it is necessary to acknowledge that  criticism is being voiced in both Azerbaijan and Armenia at this  time. "In Armenia, they say that by buying gasoline, you are sending  money to Azerbaijan so that it can use it to attack Armenia, while in  Azerbaijan, they say that by sending gasoline and diesel fuel to  Armenia, the latter is fueling their tanks and military equipment to  attack Azerbaijan. It should be noted that both of these concerns are  misplaced, as peace has been established between Azerbaijan and  Armenia, peace will gradually become more institutionalized, and  these concerns simply have no place," Pashinyan emphasized.   According to him, such thoughts, at least in Armenia, are incited and  encouraged by the companies and circles that, with the support of  their foreign partners, have monopolized the gasoline market for many  years. "And now they will be forced to lower prices, which I believe  will impact these monopolies. They will eventually disappear, and  this is a direct win for the citizens of the Republic of Armenia.  This is peace, and we must learn to live in peace and also learn to  appreciate the benefits of peace, which, to my delight, the Republic  of Armenia is doing," Pashinyan concluded.

On December 19, 2025, 1,218 tons of Azerbaijani A-95 gasoline were  imported to Armenia. Companies importing Azerbaijani gasoline began  selling premium gasoline in Armenia at 430 drams per liter.   Previously, the price per liter was 510 drams. On January 7, 2026, it  was reported that Azerbaijan had supplied a second batch of fuel to  Armenia: 1,000 tons of A-92 gasoline, the same amount of diesel fuel,  and 1,800 tons of A-95 gasoline. It remains unclear whether Georgia  will impose a customs value on the supplied product, as was not done  in the first case.
