Russian-Armenian businessman Samvel Karapetyan promises large foreign  investments for Armenia 

ArmInfo.  Russian businessman of Armenian origin, head of the Tashir group of companies Samvel Karapetyan sent another appeal to the Armenian society from  the detention center of the National Security Service of Armenia,  where he has been held for the third month.

The message, titled "Work for all. Well-being for all", describes a  typical Armenian scene, describing the inaction of the authorities.

"A typical working day: a small Armenian town or village.  Hard-working and energetic Armenian men, having gathered together,  are forced to play backgammon. They are overcome with despair,  remembering past successes. People are practically deprived of the  opportunity to even dream of a good life.

The only one responsible for this reality today is our government,  which does not create decent opportunities for our people, scares  them away and undermines faith in a prosperous future. I can  confidently say that despite these difficult conditions, we can very  quickly find the necessary and concrete solutions aimed at the  well-being of our people," Karapetyan wrote.

According to him, Armenia annually imports about $4 billion more  goods than it exports. Karapetyan believes that this shows that the  country has great potential for building production facilities,  creating profitable investment programs, especially for providing  residents of the regions with decent working conditions.

"In the shortest possible time, we will be able to attract large  international investors with our production capacities, stimulate  local businesses with targeted state support programs, and not just  "get a share" or try to "take away" it.

Reforms in the agricultural sector must be real, on the ground.  Competition among companies harvesting farmers' crops must be so high  that, by selling their products, the farmer can finally make a  profit, ensuring the well-being of his family. And our agricultural  products can become good raw materials for the development of the  food industry," Karapetyan believes.

The businessman believes that in a few years, large companies with  international recognition should be represented and operating in  Armenia, which will ensure a qualitatively new growth in the pace of  tourism development and new conditions.

"I am confident that this and a number of other economic programs  will change the quality of life of our people in the shortest  possible time, emigration will finally stop, and decent work will  appear for everyone.  We will do it our way," Karapetyan concluded.

Samvel Karapetyan was detained on the night of June 18 in Yerevan by  Armenian law enforcement agencies after he expressed support for the  Armenian Apostolic Church. In response to this, open threats followed  from the Prime Minister. On the night of June 19, the Yerevan Court  of General Jurisdiction arrested Samvel Karapetyan for two months. He  is being held in the Yerevan-Kentron Penitentiary Institution (the  famous "KGB basement" in the building of the National Security  Service of Armenia). He is accused of publicly calling for the  seizure of power in the country. Karapetyan does not admit guilt. In  addition, in July, the head of the Tashir Group of Companies was  charged with new charges of money laundering.

On August 15, the Anti-Corruption Court, early in the morning, after  almost 10 hours of considering the investigator's petition, extended  Karapetyan's arrest.
