ArmInfo. In 2025, the Armenian NPP will receive the loan funds of 1 billion 35 million drams that it did not receive in 2024. Thus, the budget loan for the implementation of the program for the repeated extension of the NPP's service life this year will amount to slightly more than 13.5 billion drams. The corresponding decision was made at a government meeting on September 4.
The authors of the draft decision, represented by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, recalled that on June 11, 2020, in order to carry out work to extend the service life of the second, operating power unit of the Armenian NPP until 2036, the Armenian government decided to issue a budget loan to the plant in the amount of 63.2 billion drams (slightly more than $164 million), of which 18.7 billion drams in 2020, 25 billion in 2021, 7 billion drams in 2024 and 12.5 billion drams in 2025.
In 2024, out of the specified 7 billion drams, 1 billion 35 million were issued to the state enterprise , to resolve financial issues that arose during the construction of the new Iran-Armenia power transmission line and the corresponding substation (during the construction of the substation on the new line, transformers were stolen from there, and the Armenian side issued a loan to the Iranian contractor to purchase new ones).
In this regard, it is proposed to amend the previously adopted decision of the Cabinet of Ministers and instead of 7 billion drams for 2024, indicate 5.965 million, and instead of 15.5 billion drams for 2025 - 13.535 million drams. Thus, this year the NPP will receive 1 billion 35 million drams that it did not receive in 2024.
