ArmInfo. On August 26, RA President Vahagn Khachaturyan received a delegation led by Minister of Agriculture Abbas Jabr Al-Maliky, who is Yerevan to participate in the session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Armenia and Iraq.
As reported by the presidential press service, Vahagn Khachaturyan welcomed the guests and noted that Iraq is an important and reliable partner of Armenia in the Middle East. He highlighted the dynamic cooperation in trade and economic, educational and cultural, humanitarian and information technology spheres.
The Iraqi Minister emphasized the importance of the Armenian-Iraqi business forum in Yerevan as an effective platform for developing ties between business circles and reaching practical agreements and stressed the need to hold such events on a regular basis to expand the scope of cooperation.The parties underscored the importance of establishing ties and effective cooperation between the business communities of the two countries, as well as developing business ties in sectors of mutual interest.
Special attention was paid to the agricultural sector. It was noted that Armenian fruits and vegetables, livestock, meat and dairy products could be of interest to the Iraqi market. Discussions also focused on restoring direct flights, simplifying cargo transportation and promoting bilateral investment opportunities.
