ArmInfo. The fourth meeting of the Armenian-Iraqi Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was held in Yerevan. During the meeting, several memorandums of understanding were signed.
The meeting was chaired by Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan from the Armenian side, and by Minister of Agriculture Abbas Jebur Al-Maleky from the Iraqi side. The memorandums were signed between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Armenia and Iraq, Business Associations, the Armenian Association of Developers and the Iraqi Federation of Contractors. Gevorg Papoyan highlighted the historical friendly relations between Armenia and Iraq. He also pointed out the recent dynamic growth in economic relations, noting that in the first half of 2025, the mutual trade volume reached $171 million, a significant increase from the previous year.
Note that according to the Statistical Committee, the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Iraq in January-June 2025 totaled $171.2 million, which is almost twice as high as the figure for 2024. The lion's share of trade was made up of Armenian exports ($170.9 million), showing an annual growth of 95.4%, while the volume of imports was only $258.1, with an annual growth of 4.5 times.
