ArmInfo. On July 8, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited the Hrazdan community in the Kotayk region, where the launch of the Solid Municipal Waste Management project for Kotayk and Gegharkunik regions took place.
As reported by the government press service, the project valued at14.8 million euros was implemented in collaboration with the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. As part of the program, construction was carried out on a new sanitary landfill in the Hrazdan community, as well as waste transfer stations in the villages of Martuni and Akunk.
Additionally, to establish a comprehensive waste collection system in line with EU standards in all settlements of the two regions, waste collection schemes were developed for each settlement and optimal waste collection routes were planned. Based on the schemes, the necessary machinery and equipment were purchased. The communities in the two regions have established and registered Kotayk and Gegharkunik LLC to provide waste collection services and manage landfills and waste transfer stations.
