ArmInfo. Armenia will establish a tariff quota on certain types of goods of Iranian origin imported from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the territory of the Republic of Armenia during 2025. The decision was made by the Cabinet of Ministers on July 3 at a regular meeting.
As stated in the explanatory note to the document, the Agreement On Free Trade between the Eurasian Economic Union and its Member States, on the one hand, and the Islamic Republic of Iran, on the other hand will enter into force on May 15, 2025. The attached lists, by types of goods for which the Parties are ready to provide tariff preferences, are an integral part of the Agreement. At the same time, the Agreement provides for the establishment of a tariff quota on a number of agricultural goods for a certain quantity of goods. The specified lists were approved by the decision of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission dated March 11, 2025, No. 27.
Based on the above-mentioned decision of the Eurasian Economic Commission and in order to ensure the implementation of the Agreement, a draft resolution of the Government of the Republic of Armenia has been developed On establishing the volumes of import of certain types of goods of Iranian origin from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the territory of the Republic of Armenia during 2025, applying a tariff quota to them, establishing the procedure for issuing import licenses and approving the forms of one-time and general licenses, which establishes the procedure for distributing the volumes of import of certain types of agricultural goods from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the territory of the Republic of Armenia within the tariff quota between participants in foreign economic activity.
Considering that the state administration body responsible for non-tariff regulation within the framework of membership in the Eurasian Economic Union is the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, it is recognized as the authorized body for issuing licenses for the import of certain types of agricultural goods.
