ArmInfo.Almost all infrastructure companies, except for Electric Networks of Armenia CJSC, have raised their prices for services in the last 8-9 years. This was stated in a video address by Narek Karapetyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ENA CJSC.
According to him, after nationalization, Armpost doubled its tariffs over the past 10 years, Veolia Jur increased tariffs by 10% in the last 5-6 years, High-Voltage Networks of Armenia CJSC raised prices by 80%, while ENA has maintained the same tariff. This was mainly achieved by reducing losses. Very often, Karapetyan continued, power outages occur without the company being at fault.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors also emphasized that any accidents resulting in power outages for a large number of people, cannot be attributed to the company, as ENA operates through small substations that supply electricity to neighborhoods. Additionally, a digital electricity metering system has been introduced, with 800,000 people connected online. If a person fails to pay, their electricity is automatically turned off, then back on once payment is made. Those people who did not pay for electricity have already started paying. "Thanks to this system, we managed to save $40 million annually. If we had not done this, then over the past 8-9 years people would have had to collect an additional $40 million to cover electricity costs," Narek Karapetyan noted.
