ArmInfo. On the sidelines of the 4th UN International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4), held in Seville, Spain, RA President Vahagn Khachaturyan held a number of bilateral meetings.
As reported by the press service of the president, during the conversation between Khachaturyan and French President Emmanuel Macron, the general regional situation and developments were discussed. The interlocutors also exchanged views on bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting with the President of the Republic of Kenya, Dr. William Ruto, the prospects for developing relations between the two countries were discussed.
The parties discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation in economic, environmental and international organizations. The continuity of dialogue and exchange of views on international and regional issues was emphasized. Particular attention was also paid to the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP-17), which will be held in Armenia in 2026. The presidents emphasized the importance of such conferences in the global environmental agenda. The President of the Republic of Armenia noted that he would be glad to receive his Kenyan counterpart in Yerevan as part of the conference. In turn, the President of Kenya invited the President of the Republic to visit their country at an appropriate time, and also proposed to consider the possibility of opening an embassy in the context of further promoting cooperation.
Khachaturyan also met with the President of Angola Joao Lourenco, with whom they discussed ways and opportunities for developing cooperation between the two countries in areas of mutual interest. The parties touched upon the issues of identifying and implementing the existing potential for cooperation in the field of information and high technologies, mining, diamond processing and related industries. The President of Angola expressed readiness to promote cooperation in the field of diamond processing, in particular, given that Armenia has traditions in this area that have great potential for development. The importance of the initiative to establish a TUMO center in Angola was also particularly emphasized, which is an effective step towards deepening sectoral cooperation. The parties emphasized the need to promote interdepartmental consultations as an effective mechanism for strengthening bilateral relations and coordinating program cooperation.
