ArmInfo. Representatives of Armenian SMEs have gathered outside the NA building given that the issue of tax changes regulating the activities of this business segment will be presented by the head of the SME Association at a session of the relevant parliamentary committee.
Business representatives referred to their gathering as a , as they came here to seek clarity on the discussions and to see if the government will be willing to compromise with small and medium businesses. Otherwise, they may be forced to close their businesses. Participants emphasized that they do not refuse to pay taxes, but are advocating for more reasonable and objective innovations to be implemented. The adopted law will definitely lead to bankruptcy.
They noted that all meetings with government representatives were formal. After regular discussions, a state assistance program was implemented, which representatives cannot even use. SME representatives noted that the first mandatory requirement for this program is an inventory, which they currently oppose. Adopting the law in its current form is poses a problem as about 55,000 business entities will be deprived of their daily bread. It should be noted that SMEs of Armenia are against the approved law that raises the turnover tax for SMEs from 5% to 10% and mandates an inventory, which requires costly accounting services that small businesses cannot afford.
