Only RUB transactions in Armenia`s interbank foreign exchange market  Apr 21 to 25

ArmInfo. The Armenian Interbank Currency Exchange worked only twice from 21 to 25 April 2025 and only for ruble transactions. No dollar transactions were carried out  during this period, and euro transactions have not been carried out for a month and a half. As a result, the weekly trend of ruble transactions reversed from a significant 2.1-fold growth towards a 55% decline.

At the same time, in the intra-bank currency market during the  reporting week (21-25.04.25 compared to 14-18.04.25), the purchase and sale of dollars went into decline, which was also observed in the purchase of euros and rubles, the trend of which also reversed from growth towards decline, while the trend of sales of euros and rubles, on the contrary, went from decline to growth.

As a result, from April 21 to April 25 this year, the dram continued to strengthen against the dollar - from 390 to 389.3 drams / $ 1, while setting itself up for revaluation both against the euro - from 444 to 441 drams / 1 euro, and against the ruble - from 4.71 to 4.64 drams / 1 ruble. A year earlier, on April 25, 2024, the dram exchange rate to the dollar was 388.5 drams / $ 1, to the euro - 417.5 drams / 1 euro, and to the ruble - 4.16 drams / 1 ruble, which, compared to the current rates, indicates an annual devaluation of the dram against the dollar, the euro and the ruble.

According to the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia, on the interbank currency market from April 21 to 25 this year, the total volume of ruble transactions amounted to 450 million rubles with an average rate of 4.69 dr/1RUB (versus 4.73 dr/1RUB the week before). In particular, the interbank currency market worked only two days during the reporting week - Wednesday and Friday (April 23 and 25), when only ruble transactions were made. The maximum volume of ruble  transactions again occurred on Friday (April 25) - 300 million  rubles.

On the intra-bank currency market from April 21 to 25 of this year, in comparison with the previous week (14-18.04.25), the trend of buying and selling dollars reversed from 44-13% growth towards 24-8% decline, for euro and ruble transactions the trend of buying also reversed from 22-48% growth towards 22.7-13.3% decline with the trend of selling euro and ruble exiting from 18.8-24.1% decline to 20-91% growth. As a result, during the reporting week $124.2 million was purchased at an average rate of 388.58 dr/$1, over 29.1 million euros  at an average rate of 440.66 dr/1EUR, and over 14.7 billion rubles. at an average rate of 4.76 dr/1RUB, and $203.5 million were sold at an average rate of 391.50 dr/$1, 56.8 million euros at an average rate of 449.91 dr/1EUR, and 4.62 billion rubles at an average rate of 4.85 dr/1RUB. The largest volumes of dollar purchases and sales were recorded on Friday (April 25 - $42.4 million and $63.9 million), the maximum volumes of ruble purchases and sales occurred on Monday (April 21 - 5.2 billion rubles and 1.8 billion rubles), the largest volume of euro purchases was recorded on the same day (April 21 -  11.5 million euros) with the maximum euro sales on Wednesday (April 23 - 17.1 million euros).
