ArmInfo. The Yerevan Municipality has developed a bill on fines for individuals violating the public transport reform process. According to the press secretary of the Yerevan Mayor Hayk Kostanyan, the fines will affect three groups of individuals: those who do not pay for public transport, those who pay for others with their ticket package, and those who, having an annual ticket package, do not use it for payment.
The bill, as he noted during a briefing on March 14, will come into force after it is approved by the National Assembly. At the same time, Kostanyan assured that fining citizens is not an end in itself. <Our goal is not to fine people and bring them into the legal field. Our goal is to convey to people that if there is a service, they must pay for it>, - the press secretary said.
He also presented certain data regarding the unified ticket system. Thus, according to Kostanyan, from January 1 to March 10, the mayor's office collected 2.5 billion drams for paid ticket products. By the reporting date, over 210 thousand ticket packages were purchased, of which 71% were basic packages, 29% were discounted. The mayor's press secretary also noted that 22% of discounted packages are citizens who can ride public transport for free.
