ArmInfo. In 2024, Armenia generated 9,381.4 million kWh of electricity, marking a 6.5% increase compared to the previous year. According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, there was a 3.6% rise in electricity generation in December alone, reaching 926.4 million kWh.
Thermal power plants saw a 5.4% decrease in electricity generation over the year, producing 3,516.4 million kWh. At the same time, hydroelectric power plants increased their production volumes by 25.1% - to 2,059.2 million kWh, the Armenian NPP - by 4.5% to 2,830 million kWh. According to statistics, wind power plants experienced a 47.4% decline in electricity generation producing 1.2 million kWh. The production volume of solar power plants at the end of 2024 amounted to 974.6 million kWh, with an annual growth of 32.9%.
Let us recall that in 2023, 8,845.1 million kWh of electricity were produced. However, the statistical report didn't indicate the dynamics due to a change in the methodology for calculating generated electricity volumes starting from 2023. In particular, the volumes of electricity generated by autonomous producers were now being included. As a result, the 2023 statistical reports don't show the annual dynamics for the energy complex because they are not comparable to the 2022 indicators.
