ArmInfo. Armenia is considering appointing an attach‚ in Silicon Valle. Minister of High-Technological Industry of Armenia, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, stated this during a press conference on April 15.
According to him, the opening of such an office will allow Armenia to use global technological resources. "This will provide an opportunity to stimulate international cooperation, accelerate the development of an innovation center and allow Armenia to position itself as an international player in the field of high technologies," the minister emphasized.
According to the RA Statistics Committee, the information and telecommunication technologies (ICT) sector of Armenia provided revenue of 883.2 billion drams (over $2.2 billion) in 2023, which exceeds the year-ago figure by 54.8%.
The service has traditionally been the dominant segment in ICTs - with a share of 68.6% (versus 77.7% in 2022) or 606.2 billion drams, with an increase of 36.7% over the year. The lion's share of services falls on the information technology (IT) sector - 449.1 billion drams, which is 52.4% higher than a year ago.
At the same time, the share of the ICT production segment decreased over the year from 0.5% to 0.1%, and the volume of revenue decreased by 63.8% - to 972.1 million drams.
